My husband keeps his shoes in our coat closet, and he has one pair of sneakers that are incredibly stinky. Unfortunately, they make the entire closet smell bad. Any ideas?
I spray the closet with air freshener regularly, but that just makes it smell like spices & shoes ![]()
I've thought of buying a box to keep them in, hoping that will contain the smell.
If all else fails, his birthday is coming up... perhaps he will get a new pair of jogging shoes!
Put baking soda in his shoes at night and dump it out before he puts them on. If you keep doing this, the odour will not build up in the shoes. You also can get plastic shoe boxes at the Dollar Store or Walmart.
Tell him to put on new socks each and every time he puts on his jogging shoes and that will not happen to the new pair you’re going to buy him.
Shove some things in to them, like Bounce. Bounce smells nice, and like the commercial says you can use them to freshen up anything. Also i’d keep them in a box, filled with bounce.
get him 2 pairs so one breathes while he wears the other. also i heard bicarb soda helps to remove smells from shoes. if this fails air them outside or wash them once a month. happy birthday hubby your wife is giving you a fresh start to your smelly feet ! lol.
If you buy him a new pair have him to put a little bit of baking soda in his socks and shake it around in the socks. Also keep baking soda in the shoes it dries up the perspiration. Or wash his old shoes, before you wash them have him to mix baking soda with a little water taking a brush and scrub inside the shoes. Probably have to use a tooth brush! It works my kids use too have stinky feet too!
If you don’t want to do anything drastic, putting fabric softener sheets in his shoes, it should work (depending on how stinky his feet are)
hope this helps!!

Put baking soda in coffee filters and place in the Sneaks, take out in a day or so,
Try putting dryer sheets in his sneakers, my mom used to do that with my brothers shoes all the time.
If that doesn’t work for you, i don’t know if this is true but putting cat litter in a sock and then putting it in his shoes is supposed to absorb the smell, i would say if its affective doing that once or twice a moth should help you out greatly.
Good luck de-stinking your closet!
